I've always found it interesting to see how college life is portrayed in the media industry; in movies and television, the party scene takes more of the spotlight than any other aspect and part of me thinks that these images are what send teenagers to college instead of the fundamentals that sustain a student's collegiate career.
Am I reading too deep into it, though? I mean, I'm a student who lives on campus so you would think that the party life is synonymous with my studies, but I can honestly say that I haven't attended a party since I've been here. Call me crazy, but I'm not racking up thousands of dollars in student loans to acquire an affinity for alcohol. I'm in school because I feel it will help me excel in the life I dream of having one day.
I fell to the wayside regarding school once before due to laziness so I don't play on adding "life of the party" to that short list of things I'm battling with when striving for achievement. Wait, scratch that. I AM the life of the party, of my party that's complete with textbooks, study guides, and highlighters. It may sound boring, but this is the life I chose. If it's not for you, then more power to you and I wish you well.
Now if you'll excuse me, I have an Economics textbook that requires my attention.
